After the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001, port facilities the world over have stepped up security, in accordance with Resolution 1 of Amendments to the SOLAS Convention and the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code).
Security at Tenerife’s ports is strengthened even further with the application of this code. Accordingly, this port has been chosen by principal shipping lines as a base port for their large cruise liners.
The role played by the Harbour Police is crucial for meeting the security targets and efficiency goals set for port activities.
