The Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the most important in this area of the North Atlantic for carrying out bunkering operations.<\/p>\n
Our port has modern and safe equipment to carry out this type of operation, both at the berths and for ships at anchor. In the latter case, fuel supply is usually carried out by the Cap Mejean and Anafi barges, with capacities of 3,500 and 4,584 tons respectively.<\/p>\n
Fuel supply is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Throughout the year, close to half a million tons of fuel are supplied at the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.<\/p>\n
All types of fuel: MGO, VLSFO, HSFO, IFO’s VLSFO, GO’s and LNG.<\/p>\n
The supplied products comply with ISO FDIS 8217. The storage facilities comply with MID 0 II. Quality management Companies supplying the product have ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008 certification, accredited by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance.<\/p>\n
The anchorage area of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is located to the northeast of the port, reaching up to Punta del Roquete, past Playa del Burro and Igueste de San Andr\u00e9s, about five miles from the green of the East Breakwater. The operability at anchor in the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is very high throughout the year, with shelter and protection from prevailing winds, from NE to SW, passing through the winds from the North.<\/p>\n
It also has very good holding ground- grip of the anchors on the seabed- with optimal depths, from 30\/40 meters up to 80\/90 for large vessels, and clean, without shoals or obstacles that pose a danger to navigation. The ships anchored here also have nearby services on land, a good tugboat service, and pilots available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, as well as the maritime-port control service, which enables the immediate detection of possible ship drifts.<\/p>\n
According to the routes, the nautical chart of anchorage area 6120 of the Spanish Hydrographic Institute, portulans, and situation plans issued by the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, “the main characteristic of the anchorage area of Zone II of the Port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is that it is quite sheltered from the prevailing NE winds, which blow on the islands reaching ninety percent of the days in summer and exceeding seventy percent in the annual count.” The Anaga massif plays a decisive role in this protection thanks to its geographical configuration, which provides shelter and allows anchoring operations to be carried out practically without any difficulty.<\/p>\n
